Opportunities for trainee community organisers

TRAINEE COMMUNITY ORGANISERS - £15,000 pa

Are you able to get on well with people, put them at their ease, really listen to their views about their community and then help them build local networks and action groups?  

If your answer to our question is yes you may be interested in becoming a Community Organiser (CO) and joining the national network of COs.  

ViSTA, in partnership with the national charity, Locality, is recruiting up to 5 Community Organisers who will work in local communities of Somerset.  The posts will be for a fixed term contract of 51 weeks.    Somerset’s Community Organisers will take part in an exciting experiential learning programme to develop skills and experience in Community Organising.  Successful candidates will be required to attend a residential training programme (all expenses paid). 

The application process will be conducted in two parts and shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an Assessment Day in London on the 4th February 2013 (all expenses covered).   Those candidates that complete the Assessment successfully will be invited to an interview with ViSTA in our Langport offices. 

The 5 successful candidates will attend a 3 day residential training programme on the 19th – 22nd March 2013 and then continue their studies alongside their work using an online and tutorial based programme to complete the Community Organising qualification.

The Employment Contract:  51 week fixed term contract commencing end of March 2013

Salary: £8.50 per hour

Hours: 30-35 hours per week

Locations:   Frome or Langport offices or home based. 

Travel and out of pocket expenses and training fees are fully funded
